Embracing Hope was founded by Micayla R. Branin in 2018. After having her first seizure at the age of 5 in 2006, Micayla became a fighter. Like many of those with epilepsy, she never allowed seizures to control her life. Nothing stopped her from doing what she wanted to do.
She went through a number of brain surgeries with two brain resections. Twice, she went almost 2 years without a seizure; however, at that 2 year mark, the seizures would return. Micayla wanted to make sure that epilepsy was known and she had a vision to be an advocate and help others be knowledgeable about this disorder and to be trained on seizure first aid.
Sadly, in December 2022, at 21 years of age, she had her last seizure that took her life. Through her life and experiences, we have started Embracing Hope, a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization, to increase awareness to epilepsy and SUDEP and be a beacon of light to others so that together we can Embrace Hope.
Our mission at Embracing Hope Together is to increase epilepsy and SUDEP awareness across the globe. We have a vision of assisting in seizure first aid training and assisting other epilepsy families with medical financial assistance and support.
